Trip report

2006-02-11 Caving -  Survey trip 3 with NHVSS at Timor
Trip report:
Another Surveying Weekend helping out NHVSS with the new TIMOR BOOK.

As usual the aggressive bipedal mammalian hopping herbivores were out in force on Friday night, eagerly awaiting the approaching car that could only just be seen under the dim glow of highbeam and cibie oscars. Maybe I should add dim witted, blind, and stupid to the opening line, Anyway thank goodness for ABS.

Saturday dawned as it usually does after Friday nights and John, Ros and Rick rolled off to TR8 entrance. Well that was the plan, its just that we executed it via TR7 and crawled through. ( Ah!,. I remeber now, we didnt come high enough)

Jodie met us at the entrance and handed over the "Disto" again. (Did I ever mention we should get one of these?). We surveyed off the tag and down into the entrance room. From here Ros took over sketching and continued until lunchtime doing an excellent job for a beginer.

We ducked out for lunch, hoping to met up with Rowena and Chris who were coming up in the morning.  It is already quite hot and sticky.  Ros elected to stay out until Rowena came.... but we know she really wanted a snooze....

John and I returned and got stuck into it, but soon we could here Ros, Rowena and Chris.  So much for the snooze.....

Late arvo we trouped out and wandered up to the Isis River International Swimming Hole for a quick dip and demud.  Very refreshing.

Bright and early Sunday, the local Birdo arrived to continue on with the Bird Species count. Jodie and Michael returned on Sunday morning, leaving us to a tourist trip through Main for the newcomers and a return to Hill to get the survey legs up the inclined plane to Novembers survey. We have now joined the 2 entrances.

Really hot on exiting and an easy trip home.
