Trip report

2016-06-11 Ciefden Caving at Cliefden Caves - Central West NSW
Trip report:
Dave, Sue, Rod, Ron and Joan arrived Friday night. Drizzle all the way not so cold though.
Saturday Morning: Once we got moving we went up to meet Anthony and got the keys.
Daniel and Steve Butler and Mark, Elanor, Brodie and Emily arrived later Saturday morning. Once everyone was set up we had lunch and set off for Trapdoor.
The Belubula was up about 30 cm and so Rod bravely tested the depth by filling his gumboots with water. The good news was his shorts stayed dry.
Ron, Steve, Daniel, Mark, Dave and Rod found the cave quickly and spent about 2 hours exploring.
Only one spot in the entrance section seemed a little challenging on the way down but it was an easier climb up. A few pretties and generally a good cave to explore. A bat has heard inside the cave when exiting.
We returned across the river and back to the hut for dinner. Colder during the night, clear skies and a frost in the morning.
Sunday we headed off to Wyreemba and a longish survey trip we continued through the upper maze section and along to a decent sized chamber.
in at 10am out at 3:30pm We now have stations up to number 58
This section of the cave continues to the north under the main mass of limestone and beneath the small surface subsidence near the entrance. There is still plenty to do.
Monday we entered Main Cave for a through trip. Dave, Rod, Ron, Daniel, Steve & Elanor exited the cave about 12:30 for a 21/2 hour trip. There is a lot more water in the cave now and plenty of dripping straws and filling rim pools in the Boot Room. The Clown Room is excellent as ever.
We left about 2:30pm.
