Trip report: | |
Friday night, following a warm day, a cool breeze arrived about 11:30 pm. Most of the party arrived in the late evening finding Doug and Mary Ann comfortably settled in. Saturday Morning we went up to Anthony and Ros' place to work on some steps from the garage to the house. We spent most of the morning levelling and then placing the large concrete slabs as a foundation, then adding a couple of layers to make a neat set of stairs. We took a break for lunch and then returned after 2pm to complete the job. Once complete we had a few drinks and then departed for the river near the Thermal spring. We soaked for an hour or more then returned to the hut for dinner and a quiet evening. Scott and Emily had a great time kicking the ball for Ros' dog Jet. On Sunday we went down to the Fossil Hill for a look then the willing covers got to work on completing the Island Cave CL6 survey. Dave and Peter stayed outside to do some fence measurements realising that the compass and clino were left at the Hut. Brisk walk and a drive back to the hut (picking up Mary Ann on the way) saw us with the equipment needed to do a survey. On the way back Mark, Brodie, Emily and Kim asked if Rick needed the disto ... well yes ... he thought he had it. So when I got back Peter and I did some quick measurements and then entered the cave to pass on the equipment. We completed the last leg past point 58. Once finished we took some photos and then exited around 1pm. After a clean up, showers and lunch most of us left by about 3pm. |
