2012-11-24 CAVING TRIP at cAPERTEE aREA
Trip report:
Blue Rocks. 24.11.12

Kim, Rick, Andrew and Harry turned up by the alloted time at the Capertee Pub and joined forces with a handful of other cavers to make a not insubstantial convoy.

Travelling West by 8:30am and after a few false starts and picking up some more cavers we travelled into Private Property and past many gates to the locked NPWS boundary gate. After fiddling with the combination lock for many minutes we finally got past and a few K`s later arrived at a nice limestone bluff - Blue Rocks. Our campsite. It is already warm and after a quick bite and packing of cave gear we head enmasse out to the limestone patches of interest. Rick maps CV5 and CV6 while another group including Harry maps CV7. It is very hot. Finishing up at CV5/6 I find Dave Noble has joined us and we head over to CV7 for a quick look and slowly walk back to camp. Cooler now and starting to thunder.

Sunday saw Rick, Peter and Joe return to replace tags on CV6 and CV7 using concrete nails in drilled holes with silicon bedding. I also confirmed the abscence of limestone at a set of GPS readings that Joe had. It is now hotter than Saturday. Pack up and on way out we stop to locate CV8 some 400M !!! off the road. Didnt find it but we do suffer in the 40 degree heat so we gave up. Back to pub for copious cold Lemon squashes and home.

Despite the heat a great mixed club event with UTSS,CWCG,HCG,NHVSS,SUSS and HSC
