2009-09-12 | Cliefden Working Bee weekend at Cliefden, Central West |
Trip report: | |
We arrived Friday night around 11pm the others arriving Saturday (Mike Erica Kate, William and Callum). Those who arrived Friday night, got to do the first Fencing Job for Anthony, repairing fences around the tree lot on the top of the hill west of "the silos". We went back to the hut for lunch and met up with the other volunteers. After a long lunch we got back to fencing in the same general area. Rick invented a new fence strainer with a Gibbs Ascender. Saturday Night was warm(ish) but we still had a fire and shared in Dave's 50th birthday cake. Grant donated a collection of Wild magazines for reading in the hut so some of the group fought over the magazines to discuss canyons etc.. Sunday we trogged up for Main cave CL1. GPS entrance readings were verified and Mark led the trip with Dave watching on. Lots of Photography in the main chamber and in the Clown room. We headed out about 12:30 for a total of 3 1/2 hours of caving for the weekend. It was suggested that we have 2 trips into the cave next time with one trip specifically for Photography. After a clean up of the hut we left for home about 2PM. |
