Trip report

1999-12-04 Christmas weekend at Wee Jasper
Trip report:
Not a bad roll-up for a Hills Xmas Party!... Not to mention a cross between a beginners and training and survey weekend.

Saturday morning dawned fine and beautiful, cockatoo`s screeeeching, kids yelling, flies buzzing and Katie begging to be thrown in the creek.

After a slow start the "herd" was mustered and driven to Signature (with Whips!).Everyone had a short tour of  the cave much to the enjoyment of all the kids.  A dedicated bunch then trooped off to Punchbowl and spent a few hours wandering around. This was Charlie`s first real cave, previously he has only been Urban Caving.  The words "Sick" and "Cool" spring to mind but I'm sure he wasn't hypothermic or about to puke.......

I don't know if it is possible but there seems to be even more destruction and vandalism down near the Giggle Pot. Mud thrown everywhere and hand prints galore.

Spent the arvo chasing kids, eating mangoes, plebing, throwing kids in the creek, eating chips, lazing, using the kids as target practice, drinking, snoozing, playing soccer, sunbaking, eating cake and all the usual stuff that you do on Xmas parties.

Saturday night saw us seated around the huge imaginary fire telling tall stories, silly jokes and more eating of various xmas offerings.

A small group on Sunday ventured into Dip while another group took the kids in through the Rubbish tip. Both groups met at the Rathole abseil much to the delight of the "fans". A third group did a small amount of survey work in and around Dogleg.

The rest of the day was spent in the creek or playing with the GPS that we borrowed.

A thoroughly enjoyable, actively lazy, high cholesterol, non intoxicating, kid dunking, chip eating caving weekend.
